An active noise reduction air conditioner and a control method therefor. The air conditioner comprises an outdoor unit (2), an indoor unit (1), and a central processor located inside the indoor unit (1); the indoor unit (1) further comprises an indoor noise collecting device (11), indoor filters, an indoor active noise reduction processing module, and an indoor loudspeaker (12) which are sequentially connected; the central processor is communicatingly connected to the indoor active noise reduction processing module. The active noise reduction air conditioner further comprises an area compensation noise collecting device (3) provided independently from the indoor unit (1), and the area compensation noise collecting device (3) is connected to the indoor filters. Noise reduction sound waves corresponding to low-frequency noise are emitted, so that the low-frequency noise is canceled out; collection is performed jointly by means of the indoor noise collecting device and the area compensation noise collecting device, and independent processing can be performed on an area in which noise reduction is focused, so that more accurate noise reduction processing is performed.
