Abstract:
Provided are a design method and a vibration damping device able to easily provide an active vibration damping device that reduces vibrations of a device for which the effects of vibration are to be eliminated. The vibration damping device, which is attached to a structure that is the subject of vibration reduction, is characterized by being provided with: a vibration detection means that detects a portion of the vibrations of the subject; a vibration generation means that causes strain to arise in a portion of the subject; a control means that generates a control signal determining the drive force of the vibration generation means in accordance with a signal from the vibration detection means; and a signal input/output means that transmits/receives signals with respect to the control means. The vibration damping device is further characterized by receiving a drive force generation signal from the outside via the signal input/output means, generating a drive force in accordance with same by means of the control means, driving the vibration generation means selected thereby, and meanwhile outputting vibration state information obtained from the selected vibration detection means from the control means to the outside via the signal input/output means.
