Abstract:
Provided in the embodiments of the present disclosure are an adaptive video playing method, and a device. The method comprises: receiving a playing instruction for a target video; and in response to the playing instruction, playing the target video according to a first code rate, wherein the first code rate is determined by means of the following steps: performing prediction by using a network speed prediction algorithm, so as to obtain a first network speed; acquiring a code rate prediction model corresponding to the network speed prediction algorithm, wherein the code rate prediction model is used for representing a mapping relationship, under a historical performance parameter before switching to the network speed prediction algorithm, between the network speed predicted by the network speed prediction algorithm and a code rate; and determining, by means of the code rate prediction model, the first code rate corresponding to the first network speed. By means of the embodiments of the present disclosure, different code rate prediction models can be used for different network speed prediction algorithms, thereby ensuring that a performance parameter after the switching of a network speed prediction algorithm keeps consistent with a historical performance parameter before the switching, which is conducive to preventing a video playing performance after the switching of the network speed prediction algorithm from deteriorating.
