Abstract:
The present invention provides an addition-curable liquid silicone rubber composition for air bags, said addition-curable liquid silicone rubber composition being characterized by containing: (A) an organopolysiloxane which is in a liquid state at 25°C, while containing two or more alkenyl groups in each molecule, each of said alkenyl groups being bonded to a silicon atom; (B) an organohydrogen polysiloxane which contains two or more hydrogen atoms in each molecule, each of said hydrogen atoms being bonded to a silicon atom; (C) a silica fine powder which has a BET specific surface area of 50 m2/g or more; (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst; (E) an organosilicon compound which contains an adhesiveness-imparting functional group; (F) an organopolysiloxane resin which has a three-dimensional network structure; and (G) an iron(III) oxide monohydrate having a pH of from 5 to 9 and/or an α-iron(III) oxide. Consequently, the present invention provides: an air bag that is excellent in terms of low rate of combustion and self-extinguishing properties set forth in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 302; and an addition-curable liquid silicone rubber composition for air bags.
