Abstract:
Provided is an additive for a positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery, the additive comprising a lithium transition metal oxide, Li3PO4, Li5AlO4, and Li3BO3. The lithium transition metal oxide is doped with aluminum. This additive including Li3PO4, Li5AlO4, and Li3BO3 along with the lithium transition metal oxide has the function of improving battery stability when applied to a positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery. Specifically, typical lithium transition metal oxides, when applied to a positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery, have the problem of reducing stability, such as by causing side reactions with an electrolyte and thereby generating gas in the battery. However, the Li3PO4, Li5AlO4, and Li3BO3 are uniformly mixed with the lithium transition metal oxide or form a portion of a coating layer, and the lithium transition metal oxide is doped with a portion of the aluminum, and thus side reactions between the lithium transition metal oxide and the electrolyte are suppressed.
