Abstract:
The present invention relates to an adsorption desalination (AD) system for desalinating seawater, and relates to an AD system using a multi-effect evaporation apparatus, the system comprising: a multi-effect evaporation apparatus (100) which produces high-temperature steam and low-temperature steam; a plurality of reaction units (200) comprising adsorbents (220) which receive the high-temperature steam or low-temperature steam produced in the multi-effect evaporation apparatus (100) to adsorb or desorb moisture and heat-exchange tubes (210) capable of transmitting heat to the adsorbents (220) via cooling water or hot water; a condenser (300) for condensation for recovering, as freshwater, steam containing moisture desorbed from the adsorbents (220) of the reaction units (200); a cold/hot water line (400) through which cooling water or hot water is selectively supplied to the heat-exchange tubes (210) of the reaction units (200); steam lines connecting the multi-effect evaporation apparatus (100) to the reaction units (200) and the reaction units (200) to the condenser (300), respectively; valves provided in the steam lines; and a valve control unit for controlling the operation of the valves to selectively supply cooling water or hot water provided from the cold/hot water line (400) to the heat-exchange tubes (210), and through this feature, the yield of freshwater from seawater can be maximized, and chilled water for district and residential cooling can be produced as a by-product.
