Abstract:
The present invention provides an air electrode/separator assembly that exhibits exceptional charging/discharging performance when used as a metal-air secondary battery, despite comprising a hydroxide-ion-conducting dense separator such as an LDH separator. This air electrode/separator assembly comprises: the hydroxide-ion-conducting dense separator; and an air electrode layer provided on one surface side of the hydroxide-ion-conducting dense separator. The air electrode layer comprises: an internal catalyst layer, which is provided on the side near the hydroxide-ion-conducting dense separator, and is filled with a mixture containing a hydroxide ion conductive material, an electrically conductive material, an organic polymer, and an air electrode catalyst (the hydroxide-ion-conducting material can be the same material as the air electrode catalyst, and the electrically conductive material can be the same material as the air electrode catalyst); and an outermost catalyst layer that is provided on the side distant from the hydroxide-ion-conducting dense separator, and is configured of a porous current collector and a layered double hydroxide (LDH) that covers the surface thereof, the outermost catalyst layer having a porosity of 60% or higher.
