Abstract:
The present invention relates to an air cleaner that uses water as a filter in order to filter contaminants from the air using the absorptive power of water, and to discharge the filtered air. In particular, the present invention relates to an air cleaner that employs an air-filtering process including a first stage of filtering and discharging air using a filtering device that generates fog to saturate contaminants in the air and absorbs same in filtering water, and a second stage of irradiating ultraviolet rays onto the discharged air to sterilize and disinfect the air before discharging it to the outside. Also, the air cleaner filters air in an environmentally-friendly manner by using the natural ingredients of salt and vinegar in filtering water, and is effective in filtering contaminants such as dust and germs by using a water pump to generate continuous water convection. The air cleaner according to the present invention comprises: a base (20); a water tank (30); a housing (40); a filtering device (50); a cover (70); and a controller (80). The water tank (30) includes a floor surface (32), a side surface (34), and a compartment (36) which is open at the top for holding filtering water, wherein said water tank is coupled to the base (20). The housing (40) includes a floor surface (42), a side surface (44) defining an inlet (48) through which filtering water held in the compartment (36) of the water tank (30) enters, and an inner compartment (46) in communication with the inlet (48) to hold filtering water. The filtering device (50) is installed in the housing (40) to filter air. The cover (70) includes a side surface (74) enclosing the side surface (44) of the housing (40), and an intake port (72) defined in the top thereof in order to suction air, wherein said cover is detachably coupled to the water tank (30). The controller (80) is installed on the top surface (22) of the base (20), and supplies power to the filtering device (50) and controls the air cleaner.
