An air conditioner and a control method therefor. The control method comprises: acquiring growth habit information of a fed animal in a working environment where an indoor air conditioning unit is located; configuring running parameters of an air conditioner according to the growth habit information; and starting, according to the running parameters, the air conditioner to regulate the working environment. According to the air conditioner, the growth habit information of the fed animal in the working environment where the indoor unit is located can be automatically acquired, and the running parameters of the air conditioner can be automatically configured according to the growth habit, so as to control the air conditioner to run according to the running parameters, so that the air conditioner can automatically regulate environmental parameters of the environment where the fed animal is located, without artificially setting each of the running parameters, thereby improving the degree of intelligence.
