Abstract:
Provided is an air intake structure for an internal combustion engine, wherein an air intake passage 80 is configured by connecting an inlet pipe 6 to an air intake port 42, a throttle body 7 provided with an air intake passage 70, a throttle valve 71, and a tumble valve 72 is connected to the upstream side of the air intake passage 80, and the air intake passage 80 is divided by a partition plate 81 into an upper primary passage 80A and a lower secondary passage 80B which serves as a tumble flow passage. An idle air passage 100 for providing communication between the upstream side and downstream side of the throttle valve 71 is provided above the air intake passage 70, an outlet 102 downstream of the idle air passage 100 is formed in the upper part 70aa of the inner surface of the air intake passage 70 at a position between the throttle valve and the tumble valve. Idle air flowing out of the idle air passage 100 when the throttle valve is totally closed is prevented by the tumble valve plate 72b of the tumble valve from flowing into the upper primary passage and is conducted from a cutout 72c in the tumble valve plate to the lower secondary passage 80B. Consequently, a tumble flow is easily strengthened even in idle operation, etc.
