Disclosed in the present invention are an air suspension system and an axle assembly. The air suspension system comprises a main beam, a support, an air spring, and an axle. The support is fixedly connected to a frame. The main beam comprises a first end and a second end, and the first end is pivotally connected to the support. The main beam is composed of two opposite shells. Each shell comprises a web plate, an upper flange, and a lower flange. The upper flanges of the two shells are welded to form a top wall, and the lower flanges are welded to form a bottom wall. The web plate is provided with a connecting portion, and the axle transversely penetrates through the connecting portions of the two web plates. The part of the top wall located on the upper edge of the connecting portion forms a transition section, and the height of the top wall is gradually reduced from the first end to the transition section. The top wall of the main beam is located at the position between the transition section and the second end to form a mounting surface, and the air spring is mounted between the mounting surface and the frame. According to the present invention, the lightweight requirements of the vehicle are met, and meanwhile, the air spring provides a large mounting space, and then an air spring with larger size can be mounted to improve the suspension performance.
