[Problem] To provide an innovative airbag device capable of protecting the head of an occupant from one side of the head to the anterior and even to the other side of the head. [Solution] An airbag device according to the present invention comprises: an airbag that has a head protective cushion for protecting the head of an occupant by deploying from the upper section on either the left or the right of a vehicle seat; and an inflator that supplies an inflating gas to the airbag. The head protective cushion comprises: a first chamber that protects the area around one side of the occupant's head; a second chamber that is connected to the first chamber and protects the anterior of the occupant's head; a third chamber that is connected to the second chamber and deploys from the anterior of the occupant's head across to the other side; and a fourth chamber that is connected to the third chamber and deploys near the other side of the occupant's head. A contact panel is also provided bridging over the occupant sides of the head protective cushion and is composed of a flexible material with which the occupant and the occupant's head make contact.
