Abstract:
A speaker 14 outputs an alert sound for announcing the presence of a vehicle to the outside of the vehicle. A travel commencement detection unit 122 detects the commencement of travel by the vehicle. An acoustic pressure control unit 124 controls the acoustic pressure of the alert sound to be output from the speaker 14 on the basis of the travel state of the vehicle. The acoustic pressure control unit 124 causes the speaker 14 to output the alert sound while the vehicle is stopped, and on detecting the commencement of travel by the vehicle, increases the acoustic pressure of the alert sound over that in the stopped state. Thus, with respect to low-noise vehicles such as electric vehicles, the starting off of the vehicle is announced without causing discomfort to people in the vicinity.
