Abstract:
Provided is an alignment film-forming material that provides an alignment film having high adherence between a polymer liquid crystal layer and a base material and having high light transmittance in a transmission state. The alignment film-forming material is characterized by containing the following components (A) and (B). Component (A): A polymer component (A) having a carboxyl group and a structure represented by formula (S). The polymer constituting the polymer component (A) is at least one type of polymer (A) selected from the group consisting of polymers of a polyimide precursor, a polyimide that is an imidized product of the polyimide precursor, and a monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated bond. Component (B): A compound (B) having a molecular weight of 2000 or less, and having, per molecule, at least one epoxy group, and one group having a polymerizable unsaturated bond, with the epoxy group and the group having a polymerizable unsaturated bond being linked through a divalent organic group having an alkylene group of 4-20 carbons.
