Abstract:
An alkali water electrolysis membrane - electrode - gasket composite includes a barrier membrane having first and second membrane surfaces, a first electrode disposed stacked on the first membrane surface, and an electrically insulating gasket holding the barrier membrane and the first electrode as a unit. The gasket is provided with: a first surface in contact with a frame on a positive electrode side; a second surface in contact with a frame on the negative electrode side; a slit part open toward the inside periphery for accommodating an entire peripheral part for the barrier membrane and the first electrode; first and second parts facing each other through the slit part; and a linking part provided on the outer peripheral side of the slit part, connecting the first and second parts as a unit, and sealing the outer peripheral end of the slit part. The entire peripheral part for the barrier membrane and the first electrode accommodated in the slit part is sandwiched into a unit by the first and second parts.
