Abstract:
Provided are: an alkaline storage battery negative electrode (1) that has excellent cost stability, has high discharge capacity from an initial charge/discharge cycle, and can maintain said high discharge capacity over a long period of time; and a production method for the negative electrode (1) and an alkaline storage battery that includes the same. The negative electrode (1) has a collector (2), an adhesive (3), and an active material (4) that is held on the collector (2) via the adhesive (3). Particles (41) of the active material (4) have: a core part (412) that comprises a hydrogen-occluding alloy; and a surface layer (411) that contains a hydroxide of Ni and is on the surface of the core part (412). The composition of the core parts (412) is ZrATixNbyNiz (provided that 0.20≤x≤0.50, 01.0.
