Abstract:
An alkaline water electrolysis vessel (50) is equipped with at least two outer frames, a gasket (7) and a partitioning membrane (4). Two of the outer frames are stacked in such a manner that these outer frames can overlap with each other at least partially as observed in the circumferential direction. The gasket (7) is held by the two outer frames. The gasket (7) has a frame-like form so that the gasket (7) can come into contact with the outer frames over the whole area thereof in the circumferential direction. A slit is formed in an inner circumferential surface of the gasket (7) along the circumferential direction of the inner circumferential surface. The partitioning membrane (4) is held by the gasket (7) at the slit. The surface pressure generated on the gasket (7) by the pressing of each of the outer frames is 1 to 10 MPa inclusive. The maximum contact surface pressure between the gasket (7) and the partitioning membrane (4) is 3 to 20 MPa inclusive.
