Abstract:
According to the present invention, a focused image and height data are generated for each pixel position, from a plurality of captured images having different focal positions, appropriately over a wide area to be in focus. A plurality of images having different focal positions are obtained (Step S1). A grayscale image is obtained from each of the images (Step S5). A wavelet transformation is performed on the grayscale image to generate a multi-resolution image (Step S6 ~ S13). A probability distribution with respect to the focal position is generated based on the multi-resolution image (Step S14). An optimal focal position is calculated approximately for each pixel position based on the probability distribution and using a belief propagation method, an evaluation function satisfying a cost function and a penalty function being minimized at the optimal focal position (Step S17 ~ S20). A focused image and height data are generated for each pixel position from the optimal focal position (Step S22).
