Abstract:

A manganese-activated aluminate phosphor represented by the following compositional formula, and a vacuum ultraviolet-excited light emitting device comprising the phosphor as a phosphor layer: (1-a)(bMO.6Al2O3).a(MMg1-cMncAl10O17) wherein M rep resents at least one member selected between Ba and Sr; and a, b and c are numbers satisfying the following requirements: 0.05 a 1.0; 0.64 b 0.86; 0.05 c 1.0; and 0.05 a x c 0.3.
