Abstract:
The present invention provides an aluminum alloy that has high proof stress enabling use as a substitute for iron- and copper-based metal materials, and has a constant break elongation even at narrow diameters. The aluminum alloy according to the present invention is an aluminum alloy having an alloy composition containing 0.20–1.80 mass% of Mg, 0.20–2.00 mass% of Si, and 0.01–1.50 mass% of Fe, with the remainder being constituted by Al and unavoidable impurities, wherein the alloy is characterized in that: the alloy has a filamentous metal structure in which a plurality of crystal grains extend aligned in one direction; and there are no specific voids present or the number of specific voids present is 15 or less, wherein for the specific voids, the average value for the maximum dimension, in a direction orthogonal to the lengthwise direction of the plurality of crystal grains in a cross section parallel to the one direction, is 400 nm or less, and the maximum dimension, in a direction orthogonal to the lengthwise direction in an observation region of 10,000 μm2 positioned in the center when the cross section is viewed in the through-thickness direction, is 1.0 μm or more.
