Abstract:
The invention provides a method for identifying a candidate compound or compounds capable of modulating factors which influence obesity independently of insulin resistance, comprising administering the compound or compounds to a transgenic non-human SLOB animal expressing, as a result of transgene expression, a 5'OT-EST polypeptide or mutant 5'OT-EST polypeptide.
