Abstract:
Provided is an anisotropic light diffusion film that, in regard to changes in luminance and color due to the viewing angle, has a superior effect of improving visual angle dependency in comparison to the prior art. In an anisotropic light diffusion film according to the present invention, the linear transmittance represented as (the amount of transmitted light in the linear direction of incident light)/(light intensity of incident light) varies in accordance with the light incidence angle. The anisotropic light diffusion film has one scattering central axis, a matrix region, and a plurality of columnar regions which are different in refractive index from the matrix region. The plurality of columnar regions are configured to be oriented and to extend from one surface to the other surface of the anisotropic light diffusion film. The aspect ratio of each columnar region, which is represented as the average major axis/the average minor axis of that columnar region, in a cross section perpendicular to the column axis of that columnar region is 2-12. The maximum linear transmittance of the anisotropic light diffusion film in the inclination orientation of the scattering central axis is 30% or less. The scattering central axis angle of the anisotropic light diffusion film is 35°-45°, where the scattering central axis angle is the polar angle formed by the normal direction with respect to the anisotropic light diffusion film surface and the scattering central axis direction. The linear transmittance at the light incidence angle of 0° is 5% or more.
