The present invention provides an anisotropic nanostructure that is expressed by formula RuxM1-x (in the formula, 0.6 ≤ x ≤ 0.999, and M represents at least one kind selected from the group consisting of Ir, Rh, Pt, Pd, and Au), the Ru and M being dissolved at the atomic level, and that has an anisotropic hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structure.
