Title:
ANTENNA DEVICE AND A COMMUNICATION DEVICE COMPRISING SUCH AN ANTENNA DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/048859
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An antenna device comprises a longitudinal antenna element (20) and is movable between an extended end position and a retracted resting position via a fully retracted operating end position. A spring element is arranged to exert an axial force on said antenna element in the direction of the extended end position. The antenna element (20) is provided with first notches (26a-d) arranged to co-operate with ribs (36a-d) arranged on a blocking element (30) arranged around said antenna element and second notches (24a-d) arranged to co-operate with cam surfaces 34a-h) on the blocking element (30). By moving the antenna element to the fully retracted position, the second notches and the cam surfaces co-operate to move the blocking element between blocking positions, in which axial displacement of said antenna element from said third resting position to said first end position is prevented, and non-blocking positions, in which axial displacement of said antenna element is allowed. The antenna device comprises few parts, thereby being reliable and easy to manufacture and assemble.

CLAIMS
1. An antenna device, comprising: a antenna element (20,22) with a longitudinal center axis and having first notches (26ad), said antenna element being movable along said longi tudinal center axis between an extended end position (Fig. ld), and a retracted resting position (Fig. la) via an operating end position (Fig. lb), and a spring element (14; 14' ; 14") arranged to exert an axial force on said antenna element in the direction of said extended end position, characterized by a blocking element (30) arranged around said antenna element and retained against axial movement, said blocking element being rotatably movable in relation to said antenna element and having ribs (36ad) arranged to interact with said first notches (26ad), in a blocking position, to pre vent axial displacement of said antenna element from said retracted resting position to said ex tended end position, and, in a nonblocking posi tion, to allow axial displacement of said antenna element from said retracted resting position to said extended end position, second notches (24ad) provided on said antenna ele ment (20,22), and first cam surfaces (34ah) provided on said blocking element (30) and arranged to interact with said second notches (24ad) during displacement of the antenna element (20,22) into said operating position to move said blocking element with said blocking element in a blocking position, to a nonblocking position, and with said blocking element in a nonblocking posi tion, to a blocking position.
2. The antenna device according to claim 1, wherein said ribs (36ad) have second upper cam surfaces (37ad), and third lower cam surfaces (38ad), and said first notches (26ad) have upper end surfaces (27ad) arranged to interact with said third cam surfaces (38ad), and lower end surfaces (28ad) arranged to interact with said second cam surfaces (37ad).
3. The antenna device according to claim 2, wherein said second cam surfaces (37ad) have an in verted V shape.
4. The antenna device according to claim 2, wherein said third cam surfaces (38ad) have an in verted V shape to prevent relative rotational movement of the antenna element (20) and the blocking element (30).
5. The antenna device according to claim 2, wherein said lower end surfaces (28ad) of the first notches (26ad) have a V shape.
6. The antenna device according to any of the pre ceding claims, wherein said blocking element (30) is essentially annular.
7. The antenna device according to any of the pre ceding claims, wherein there are eight first cam sur faces (34ah).
8. The antenna device according to any of the pre ceding claims, wherein there are four ribs (36ad) and four first notches (26ad).
9. The antenna device according to any of the pre ceding claims, wherein said second notches (24ad) and said first cam surfaces (34ah) are positioned at a first predetermined distance from said center axis.
10. The antenna device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein said first notches (26ad) and said ribs (36ad) are positioned at a second pre determined distance from said center axis.
11. The antenna device according to claim 9, wherein said first distance is larger than said second distance.
12. The antenna device according to any of the preceding claims, wherein said spring is a draw spring (14).
13. The antenna device according to any of claims 111, wherein said spring is a compression spring (14', 14").
14. The antenna device according to claim 13, wherein said spring (14") is positioned entirely in the housing (10).
15. The antenna device according to claim 13 or 14, wherein said antenna element (20,22) is retained in its extended end position by means of a magnet (29).
16. A portable radio communication device having a cover, characterized by an antenna device according to any of the preceding claims mounted to said cover (42).
