Abstract:
Provided are an antenna device and a communication device which can maintain communication characteristics while allowing for a smaller and thinner size for the housing of a piece of electronic equipment when incorporated into the piece of electronic equipment. The antenna device is incorporated into a piece of electronic equipment and is able to communicate upon receiving magnetic fields emitted by a reader/writer (120), said antenna device comprising an antenna substrate (11), an antenna coil (11a) formed to loop around one face of the antenna substrate (11), a magnetic sheet (13) inserted in the central portion of the antenna coil (11a) to bring the magnetic field (13) therein from the reader/writer (120), and circuitry which is mounted in a circuit mount common area (20) on the other face of the antenna substrate (11) and connects to an external circuit, said area (20) being formed in a position not interfering with the insertion of the magnetic sheet (13). The antenna device is characterized in that at least a portion of the winding of the antenna coil (11a) surrounds at least a portion of the circuit elements constituting the circuitry.
