Abstract:
Provided is an anti-tip over device capable of being easily installed and removed. This anti-tip over device is provided with a damper (10) and is installed between the upper surface of a furniture piece (F) and a ceiling (C). The damper (10) is configured such that a damping force generated during contraction is greater than a damping force generated during extension, and a reaction force acts in an extension direction. When the positional relationship between a piston rod (13) and a center rod (14) is changed, the damper (10) is switched to any of a damping mode, a free mode, and a lock mode. In the damping mode, the damper (10) is extendible and contractible and generates a greater damping force during contraction than during extension. In the free mode, the damper (10) is extendible and contractible and generates a smaller damping force during contraction than during contraction in the damping mode. In the lock mode, the damper (10) prevents extension caused by a reaction force acting in the extension direction or reduces the speed of the extension.
