Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: an antifouling coating material composition which contains a silyl ester (co)polymer and medetomidine and is used for the purpose of preventing foul of a base by aquatic organisms, and which is capable of forming an antifouling coating film that exhibits excellent antifouling properties for a long period of time, while having good storage stability; and a use of this antifouling coating material composition.
[Solution] An antifouling coating material composition which contains (A) a silyl ester (co)polymer and (B) medetomidine, and wherein the silyl ester (co)polymer (A) has a structural unit derived from a monomer (a) that is represented by general formula (I) R1-CH=C(CH3)-COO-(SiR2R3O)n-SiR4R5R6 and a structural unit derived from an unsaturated monomer (b) that is copolymerizable with the monomer (a).
