Abstract:
It is intended to provide a novel apparatus for measuring luminescence whereby the
doses or intensities of luminescence from a plural number of biological samples (for
example, vital tissues, cells or organisms), into which a gene expressing a photoprotein
has been transferred, can be individually measured. Namely, an apparatus for
measuring luminescence comprises an image obtaining part for obtaining a luminescence
image of a plural number of biological samples, a measurement area specifying
part for specifying at least one measurement area in the luminescence image,
and a luminescence measuring part for measuring the dose or intensity of the luminescence
in the measurement area specified above depending on the luminescence image.
Thus, the luminescence dose or intensity is measured for each biological sample
in the measurement area. Thus, it becomes possible to focus only on a biological
sample, in which the gene has been successfully expressed, and measure the luminescence
thereof regardless of the variation in the photoprotein gene transfer efficiency
in cells and so on.
