A virtual object augmentation apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a recognition unit for recognizing a real world object; a position information loading unit for loading position information of the real world object recognized by the recognition unit; a relative position calculation unit for calculating relative position information of the virtual object augmentation apparatus in relation to the real world object, from recognition information of the real world object recognized by the recognition unit; an absolute position calculation unit for calculating absolute position information of the virtual object augmentation apparatus through the relative position information calculated by the relative position calculation unit and the position information of the real world object; and a content output unit for augmenting a virtual object to the real world object, using the same coordinate system as that for representing the position information of the real world object and the absolute position information calculated by the absolute position calculation unit.
