Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for monitoring an underground optical composite power distribution cable. The apparatus includes: a path setting part for setting a moving path of a laser beam introduced into two stainless steel tubes disposed in an underground optical composite power distribution cable, to transmit a path changing signal to at least one path changing switch; a temperature distribution measuring part for analyzing a pulse of the laser beam input through the moving path set at the path setting part, to measure the temperature distribution in a region where a cable connection member is installed; a partial discharge sensing part for obtaining partial discharge data corresponding to the cable connection member, from a partial discharge measuring device connected to the outer portion of the cable connection member; and a control part for detecting a defect between the underground optical composite power distribution cable and the cable connection member, based on the resultant data obtained from the temperature distribution measuring part and the partial discharge sensing part.
