Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and method for vulcanizing tires, with which tire vulcanization molds can be clamped more securely and tires of excellent quality can be produced. A container ring 8 is disposed on the outer circumference side of segments 6 fitted on the outer circumferential surfaces of sector molds 12c. A bolster plate 3 is disposed above an upper plate 2 fitted on the upper surface of an upper side mold 12a. A green tire is loaded sideways on a lower side mold 12b fitted on the upper surface of a lower plate 4. While moving the bolster plate 3 as well as the container ring 8 downward to clamp each of the sector molds 12c that have been assembled in a ring shape from above and below with the side molds 12a and 12b and to confine and clamp the green tire T therein, the upper side mold 12a is pressed on the upper surface of each sector mold 12c with an upper mold-clamping mechanism 7 while the assembly in a ring shape maintained.
