Abstract:
Normally, in conventional methods for transmitting energy through an optical fiber, photoelectric conversion is carried out on a portion of light inside the optical fiber that is used for communication, and the converted light is used as electrical energy. There was a problem with these methods in that the supplying side had to continually output the maximum amount of optical energy required by the receiving side through the optical fiber, and when there was surplus energy at the receiving side, energy had to be discarded, or stored at the receiving side individually. Provided, in order to solve this problem, is an optical energy supplying apparatus characterized in being provided with: an input unit into which optical energy is inputted through a first optical fiber; a supply unit from which optical energy is outputted through a second optical fiber, and into which optical signals are inputted; an adjustment unit that is connected to the input unit through a first inner fiber, and also connected to the supply unit through a second inner fiber; a branching unit that is formed on the second inner fiber, branches an optical signal with a specific wavelength from among the optical signals inputted from the supply unit, and guides the optical signal to a third inner optical fiber; and an optical signal reception unit that is connected to the third inner optical fiber, receives an optical signal for adjusting the adjustment unit, and adjusts the adjustment unit. The optical energy supplying apparatus is also characterized in having the adjustment unit adjust the optical energy that is to be passed through from the first inner fiber to the second inner fiber, on the basis of the optical signal.
