A cleaning device for removing a coating liquid remaining on the distal-end part of an application nozzle through use of a cleaning member after discharge of the coating liquid from a slit-shaped discharge port provided in the distal-end surface of the application nozzle traveling over a body to be coated, and application of the coating liquid to the surface of the body to be coated, wherein cleaning scraping parts corresponding to the shape of the distal-end part of the application nozzle are provided to a first cleaning member and a second cleaning member provided at a predetermined interval in the travel direction of the application nozzle, the first and second cleaning members are inclined in opposite directions in the longitudinal direction of the distal-end part of the application nozzle, the cleaning scraping parts of the cleaning members are disposed along the distal-end part of the application nozzle, and the first and second cleaning members are sequentially moved in opposite directions, and clean the distal-end part of the application nozzle.
