Abstract:
An application of sulphated polysaccharides against the novel coronavirus. Sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidan, or carrageenan have been confirmed to be capable of binding to the S protein on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, preventing the cell membrane of body cells from adsorbing or internalising the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby preventing the SARS-CoV-2 virus from infecting the body cells, indicating that sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidan, or carrageenan have the effect of preventing or treating pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus. The polysaccharides can be used for preparing protective products having the effect of preventing or treating pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus, such as inhalants, hand-care emulsions, oral solutions, and masks.
