The present application discloses an application switching method. In the method, an electronic device may display interfaces of corresponding applications by means of a plurality of floating windows, respectively; when the number of floating windows is greater than a preset number, and the electronic device detects that a new floating window is opened, the electronic device may switch the floating window displayed at the earliest into a floating ball, and display the new floating window. In addition, the electronic device may sequentially perform a minimization operation on one or more floating windows according to user input, to switch the one or more floating windows into one or more corresponding floating balls for display; when detecting a sliding operation input by the user, the electronic device may switch a current floating window to a floating window corresponding to the latest or earliest minimization operation. In this way, the electronic device can display a plurality of applications at the same time, and quickly switch any one of the applications; such an operation reduces redundant steps, achieves the effect of directly reaching a target scene by one step, and improves user experience.
