Abstract:
Provided are: an aqueous ink composition for writing instruments, which can yield handwriting able to withstand repeated abrasion of handwriting formed by writing and withstand stronger forces of abrasion; and a writing instrument containing said ink composition. This aqueous ink composition for writing instruments is characterized by containing at least: (A) a coloring agent that includes a pigment; (B) olefin-based resin particles; and water. This aqueous ink composition is also characterized in that: the olefin-based resin particles (B) have a penetration hardness of 1 or more and an average particle diameter of 15 µm or less, as measured using a Coulter counter method; and the solid content mass ratio of the coloring agent (A) and the olefin-based resin particles (B) [(A)/(B)] falls within the range 1-100.
