Abstract:
It is intended to provide an aqueous pharmaceutical composition with a sufficient preservative effect without adding a preservative. The invention relates to the aqueous pharmaceutical composition characterized by having a preservative effect by incorporating a medicinal substance and not incorporating sodium chloride and a preservative; and a method for obtaining a preservative effect by incorporating a medicinal substance in the composition without adding sodium chloride and a preservative thereto. As the medicinal substance incorporated in the composition of the invention, an antimicrobial agent is preferred and a macrolide antibiotic is particularly preferred. Further, one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of sugar alcohols and polyhydric alcohols may be added to the composition of the invention.
