An aqueous polyurethane resin composition which comprises both an aqueous polyurethane resin prepared from a polyisocyanate and a polyhydroxyl compound, and a nonionic surfactant, and which has a resin content of 50 wt% or higher (in terms of solid content), a corrected viscosity of 100 to 2000 mPa.s as defined by formula (1), and a yield value of 200mPa or higher as defined by formula (2): corrected viscosity V9 = 2V'12 – V'6 (1) yield value Y = 12(V'6 – V'12) (2) [wherein V'6 is a viscosity (mPa.s) as determined using a BM-type viscometer with a No.3 spindle at a liquid temperature of 30 °C and a rotating speed of 6 rpm; and V'12 is a viscosity (mPa.s) as determined using a BM-type viscometer with a No.3 spindle at a liquid temperature of 30 °C and a rotating speed of 12 rpm]. Further, the aqueous polyurethane resin composition is characterized in that the aqueous polyurethane resin satisfies the requirements (A) and (B): (A) diphenylmethane diisocyanate accounts for at least 50 wt% of the polyisocyanate, and (B) the aqueous polyurethane resin contains hydroxyl groups in an amount of 0.03 to 0.30 mmol per g of the resin (in terms of solid matter).
