Abstract:
Provided is a new aqueous titanic acid solution that makes it possible to easily prepare a titanic acid compound of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal. This aqueous titanic acid solution, which contains titanate ions and quaternary ammonium cations in water, is characterized in that, when 30 mL of an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (25°C) with a concentration of 2.2 mass% is added under stirring to 30 g of the aforesaid aqueous titanic acid solution (25°C) having been adjusted to a titanium concentration of 9 mass% in terms of TiO2, a precipitate of Na2Ti3O7 hydrate is formed. Alternatively, the transmittance of the aqueous titanic acid solution at a wavelength of 360 nm is 50% or less.
