Title:
AQUEOUS URETHANE - OLEFINIC HYBRID POLYMER DISPERSIONS AND THE PREPARATION AND USE OF THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/102080
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to new aqueous urethane - olefinic hybrid polymer dispersions, which are hybrid polymer dispersions composed chemically and/or physically of aqueous ployurethane dispersions and aqueous polyolefin dispersions or emulsions, wherein the aqueous polyurethane dispersions are based on a mixture of three or more polyisocyanates composed of 1,6-hexane diisocyanate(HDI), tetramethylxylene diisocyanate(TMXDI) and other polyisocyanates. These hybrid dispersions may comprise a molecular-scale mixtures of polyurethane from aqueous polyurethane dispersions and polyolefin from aqueous polyolefin dispersions or emulsions, while the mixtures may be interpenetrating polymer network structures, shell/core structures, graft- copolymer structures, block-copolymer structures, and the combination of two or more of these structures. These new aqueous urethane - olefinic hybrid polymer dispersions have not only good film-forming property to form a film with excellent mechanical property, so it can be used as coatings, but also good binding property to be used as adhesive.
