Abstract:
An artificial feather for a shuttlecock and a badminton shuttlecock which have flight performance and durability equivalent to those of a shuttlecock using waterfowl feathers. An artificial feather (3) for a shuttlecock is provided with a vane section (5) and a shaft (securing shaft section (10)) connected to the vane section (5). The vane section (5) includes a foamed body layer (92) and a shaft fixing layer (91) which is joined to the foamed body layer (92) with the securing shaft section (10) sandwiched therebetween. The foamed body layer (92) and the shaft fixing layer (91) have the same plan shape. Because the foamed body layer (92) is used for the vane section (5), the rigidity of the vane section (5) is increased (suppressing deformation caused by a hit) with an increase in the mass of the vane section (5) suppressed, thereby minimizing a change in the shape of the artificial feather (3) for a shuttlecock.
