Title:
ARTIFICIAL LEATHER HAVING HOLOGRAPHIC DIFFRACTION GRATING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1991/005904
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention consists in a novel type of artificial leather. A polyester film having a holographic diffraction grating, photoetching diffraction grating, or relief of hologram is coated with a resin layer and further with textile foundation cloth layer thereover. After the resin layer is solidified, the polyester film is separated therefrom to provide a foundation member (1) comprising resin layer having diffraction grating or hologram and textile foundation cloth layer. Afterward, the foundation member (1) is coated with a mettallic reflecting film (2) and additionally with a protective layer (3) to provide a piece of artificial leather having a holographic diffraction grating. When light falls on the leather, physical diffraction occurs and, with the aid of reflection of the metallic reflecting film, brilliant metallic luster or cubical hologram abundant in gradation and color can be obtained, whereby color appears varying according to the variation in angle of view and a variety of designs and patterns can be combined. The artificial leather of this invention has specific optical diffractive characteristics and, further, strength as high as that of the conventional artificial leather so that it is applicable to a wide field of use including bags, garments, shoes, belts and furnitures.
