Abstract:
An austenitic stainless steel having a chemical composition, in mass%, of 0.04% or less of C, 2.5-7.0% of Si, 10.0% or less of Mn, 0.03% or less of P, 0.03% or less of S, 0.035% or less of N, 0.030% or less of sol.Al, 7.0-20.0% of Cr, 10.0-22.0% of Ni, and 0.05-0.70% of Nb, with the remainder made up by Fe and impurities. The total amount of B1-based inclusions and C-based inclusions measured according to the method set out in JIS G 0555(2003) is 0.030 area% or less and 0.30 area% or less respectively. The C-based inclusions include a composite inclusion comprising Al2O3 and an inclusion including Si and Nb. The total amount of Nb and Si contained in the composite inclusion is 18.0 at% or higher.
