Provided are an authentication method, an authentication system, a device, and a program that enable authentication of even a visually handicapped person or a user whose hands are full, such as a user that is driving, cooking, caring for a child, or delivering a package.　This authentication method authenticates whether a subject user is a pre-registered specific user. The authentication method comprises a first step and a second step. In the first step, audio of a prescribed character string is output from a speaker 23. In the second step, after the first step, a voice spoken by a subject user is received by a microphone 21 to acquire voice information, and a determination is made from the voice information as to whether the subject user is a specific user. In the second step, at least two determinations are executed. The first determination determines if a character string recognized from the voice information matches the prescribed character string. The second determination determines if a feature amount recognized from the voice information matches a feature amount of voice information pre-registered as the voice of the specific user.
