Abstract:
Provided are an authentication system and an authentication method in which a
plurality of 3D local regions are decided in a person face to be authenticated and
3D characteristic amounts of the face in the respective 3D local regions are calculated
as the 3D face characteristic amounts. The 3D face characteristic amounts are
compared to face characteristic amounts prepared in advance for comparison
so as to authenticate the person. This reduces lowering the authentication accuracy
and improves the authentication speed.
