Abstract:
The present invention is characterized by comprising: a signature device that associates an electronic certificate previously issued to an individual and a personal signature key corresponding to the electronic certificate, and holds the electronic certificate and the personal signature key; a registration terminal that generates registration authentication information from registration biometric information of a registrant and uses the signature device to generate a personal signature in correspondence to the registration biometric information; and an issuing server that uses the electronic certificate to verify the registration biometric information and the personal signature, thereby confirming that the registrant is the same as the person of the electronic certificate. As a result, there can be provided a highly convenient authentication device and an authentication method.
