Abstract:
An automatic tool exchanger with a tool breakage detection function, comprising: a tool-indexing device for moving multiple tools that are held by a holding member in an upright position along an elliptical path, and stopping a prescribed tool at an indexing position on the path; a replacing tool displacement device for moving the tool at the indexing position to the position for exchange with a partner device; a tool breakage detection device for positioning a contact according to the height of the tool edge of the tools on the tool path in the tool-indexing device, and moving the same by means of a vertical motion mechanism; and a breakage assessment device for assessing breakage of the tools on the basis of detection signals transmitted from the tool breakage detection device in accordance with the presence or absence of contact of said contact with the tool edges of the tools.
