Abstract:
This invention provides an automatic tracking image-capture apparatus that can, by use of a single image capture unit, simultaneously acquire both a wide-angle image and a telephoto image the optical axes of which coincide with each other and that can reliably capture, as the telephoto image, an object to be tracked. An automatic tracking image-capture apparatus according to a preferred aspect of the invention comprises: a shooting optical system (12) that consists of both a central optical system, which is a wide-angle optical system located on a common optical axis, and an annular optical system which is a telephoto optical system also located on the common optical axis; a directivity sensor (17) that pupil-divides light fluxes incident via the wide-angle and telephoto optical systems, thereby selectively receiving lights; a panning/tilting mechanism (32); an object detection unit (50) that detects an object, which is to be tracked, on the basis of at least a wide-angle image out of wide-angle and telephoto images acquired from the directivity sensor (17) by an image acquisition unit (22); and a panning/tilting control unit (60) that controls the panning/tilting mechanism (32) on the basis of positional information in an image of the object detected by the object detection unit (50).
