Abstract:

This automobile door latch apparatus is provided with a locking/unlocking motor 14, a locking/unlocking rotary body 15 which can be driven to rotate by the locking/unlocking motor 14, a locking/unlocking mechanism 16, 18 which is configured by a mechanical element capable of selective switching between an unlocked state and a locked state by rotation of the locking/unlocking rotary body 15, a release motor 22, and an electric release lever 24 which is pivotally supported on the housing by a release shaft 102, rotates when driven by the release motor 22, and can release engagement of the engagement mechanism regardless of the state of the locking/unlocking mechanism 16, 18. Defining striker entry line X as the entry path line along which a striker S advances along a striker entry groove 41 provided in the body 4 and engages with the engagement mechanism, the locking/unlocking motor 14 is arranged such that the case thereof 14a is located above the striker entry line X, and the release motor 22 is arranged such that the case thereof 22a is located below the striker entry line X, making it possible to achieve greater compactness.
