Abstract:
A reverse bias voltage in combination with selective illumination can selectively write data into optical memory (300). The writing process can be completed quickly since parallel writing of data may be performed. The writing process generates an avalanche current (208) that is used to change an element. The change can be destruction of the element or may be alteration of property such as conductance or work function (206).
